Since Google has updated its algorithms recently it will be reconsidering everyone’s ranks and also SSL certificates. Those with highly secure insured SSL will receive higher priority. Those with the basic uninsured SSL will receive less of a priority.

It is interesting how SSL used to cost up to $90 per year of a managed SSL. It sounds like a small money for a such a headache. But things get more complex as we advance so at some point you start running out of money.

You gotta figure it out for yourself.

So in 2017 I also started building WordPress sites and my last challenge was to install my own free SSL certificate. Luckily at the same time while Google is updating to a Mozilla like HTTP mixed content blocker which means Chrome will block certain pages, Google, of course, wouldn’t rank them as well.

Very interesting turn out of events. As I was trying to install the free SSL I found out that HostGator are generating free SSL for all hosted websites.

All I have to do now is fix the mixed content and its done.

So check with your host regardS to the new Google Chrome update and search engine update. And of course remember to update your HTTP:// address to HTTPS:// on all the search consoles like Google Console and Bing Console.

For the most part, if you are running a small website, you will have the typical free SSL which in many cases like WIX, WordPress.com, or other platform sites is included in your yearly plan. If you are aspiring to be a true WordPress warrior then there’s lots of fun ahead!

So if you chose an E-Commerce site for your WordPress then you will need an insured/paid certificate. (At least that’s what the host companies are saying, and they “insure” you up to $10,000 only) You must shop around heavily because nowadays there’s just too much of them and we need actual tools to find better companies to rely on when working online.

FYI.
