Fraudulent users on Google Maps: Warning: Cyberbullying exists among businesses too!
This is what it looks like, next time someone decides to spam your business like that be ready, for whatever reason. It could be race related, it could be assumptions or misunderstandings or anything in the world. But this? Is just targeted. What kind of predator would do this? After all, this is just a pointless war. Dirt throwing machine?
“What is it good for, absolutely nothing!”
No one wins in wars, I believe I witnessed too many. Those who win with terror their winning short-lived. Those who win win peace their name lives forever.
Here the list of those users so-called winners!:
brianz corvette: It seems that this user is real, however, watch the trend. Very systematic robotic behavior and multiple reviews in a short period of time. No real content, just spam reviews.
eric jans – There is a growing phenomenon to legitimize fake Google user accounts created and reworked, ready to attack at any given time with 1-star review through a paid source when needed.
Just as an example when you see the timeline of reviews, you see that after reviewing EA Locksmith Inc. business the guy goes and adds more reviews to legitimize his profile watch in the next screenshot:
This shows that he is trying to gain legitimacy through multiple reviewing and yet no real person ever turned to us with a problem which we didn’t solve. There’s only one conclusion left, it’s fraudulent. In addition, no one can seem to find eric j but he keeps striking:
Pay attention to the business name above: Leggat Chevrolet Cadillac Buick GMC
Both eric j and fernando oliveria (2 fake users which hit our company) reviewed this same business place: Could it be a coincidence?
After proceeding with the empty review throughout the day he changes it to:
“not so” once he saw we are on him and also adds multiple likes to his review. Other reviews obviously are just for show he is focusing only on one company. He reviews within hours of and days before attacking his victim. We will continue following up on these methods of victimizing companies.
billy joedoggs – was removed but we hope he is back so we can expose him too. This Fraudulent Google My Business Review Scam tactic is out on the lose!
omar geolom – Same pattern of aggressive reviewing hours within the first 1 – star fake google my business review attack:
It is definitely a fraudster, someone who creates fake users legitimizes them and then attacks when either paid or just a favor. He then proceeds and changes the original reviews:
fernando oliveria – Same trend, fake reviews all over town just to hurt one company. Watch the time frame of the reviews and you can see who was the real target!
I never met Fernando Oliveria and do not recognize this person, in our business each and every customer is verified and these fraudulent actions are just a taste of what Cyber Security is about. As a business and as an individual.
I am happy some other businesses receiving good reviews I am always up for a good spirit however when you doing good in the name of bad it doesn’t really hold value. They are just building a profile to hit competitors to try to deceive public interest from legitimate and honest businesses. It is a weapon which we carry as well. But we are hesitant to use until the real perpetrators are found.
A day before:
Sunday early morning 6:30AM was the first fake google my business review, from a fella called morris farrow who seems to review libraries and zoos and only 3-4 star rating at most to build a reputation of a legitimate google guide under a mask of a fraudster. At any given time he can be paid to harm businesses.
People with bad intentions are many and they figure every day how to hurt other people and get paid for it. Here’s a shot at the timeline of this user just so you get the idea:
First Review Ever: A day ago, then after reviewing multiple businesses he proceeds to appear legitimate.
Then once he gained a bit of reputation here is his next actions:
I cannot explain how he travels so fast but it seems that he is very active on google maps and then boom, strikes his victim in this case EA Locksmith Inc. a small local locksmith company. Then watch how he changes his reviews to look more real because we spotted him right away and watch how he comes back to press fake likes on the reviews to gain legitimacy:
This user changed his review multiple times and he seems to believe all the reviews are made up. Or so he wants the people to believe.
You see similar (quick self-legitimacy) pattern on the next users as well. For example:
This review by the same fraudsters:
james teddy – is another user “reviewer” which emerged with 4 contributions over the past 9 hours alone, just 9 hours before striking deliberately creates accounts to attack anyone who’s in the way or who will pay for such service. This is not new, it’s developing:
After creating the user he reviews multiple businesses with seamless harmless reviews and then strikes the target which was the intention of this user.
Another thing to note, he was on it all day. As soon as we received a real 5 star from one of our customers we continued to receive 1-star reviews from this user through other numerous accounts which were also recently created.
He then proceeded to review other businesses quickly to eliminate trace:
The user is the same as all the other users and there might be more: Warning
This is the list of the users who appear to be suspicious in the attack on our company.
As you can clearly see these are not legitimate users and he/they use random tactics to disguise themselves as legitimate. Those fraudsters are just about business, but the wrong kind of business. Underground business.
This phenomenon of fake profile building will continue growing as the scam and fraud trend of on Google in 2019 goes on.
All will be reported to the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre.
